Haute Couture: Haute Couture has more defined silhouettes, the design is much more detailed and intricate, the fabrics are more luxurious and expensive. The production takes a long time as so much hand work is involved, prices are in the thousands to tens of thousands.
RTW: ready to wear has less defined silhouettes, the designs are used to create more then one piece ( a skirt and dress might look very similar). The fabrics are mower versatile and not as delicate and luxurious. The production is not as complicated as the pieces need to be made more then once. The price is in the hundred to low thousands.
How Haute Couture Influences Ready-to-Wear: Haute Couture influenced ready to wear by defining the silhouettes that are in style, maybe a very boxy shape or a curvaceous figure. It can inspire the way garments are created by the use of their embellishments and structure.
Differences between Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear: The different between Haute Couture and RTW is the effort that goes into it. A haute couture line usually has around 20 pieces while a RTW line can have up to 100. It takes much longer to create each piece of Haute Couture than ready to wear as most of it is hand embroidered or sewn. Ready to Wear is able to be taken off the runway and put into a wearable day outfit (hence the name) but Haute Coutur could only be worn to a very specials event like the a Grammies or if you were a bride. The look is more sophisticated, and delicate than RTW.
How to make the Haute Couture every day wearable: Haute Couture can not be made to be worn everyday as taking a masterpiece like that and toning it down would be disgraceful. However it can easily inspire a day wear outfit. Take for example the Chanel Couture 2012 line, that piece can inspire a day outfit by taking the flower embellishments and putting it in a tee shirt, then using the flowing fabric to create a matching skirt and there you go, a day wear outfit inspire by couture.
