If I were allowed to choose from the pile of books which will be published one hundred years after my death, do you know which one I would take? . . . I would simply take a fashion magazine so that I could see how women dress one century after my departure. And these rags would tell me more about the humanity of the future than all the philosophers, prophets, and scholars.

They have a celebrity on the cover and then an article about her, including photo spread, in the back.
Would you consider the fashions in this magazine to be haute couture, ready-to-wear, or mass produced? Provide examples. This magazine shows mostly ready to wear and some mass produced. RTW is found in most fashion spreads and some style articles, the mass produced is mostly in the ads and a few in the style articles.
What style of clothing is being promoted in the fashion spread? Mostly clothing that is trendy and currently in style. Very unique and polished clothing. Such as bold mixed prints, blazers, metallics and sculpted dresses.
How much skin is exposed and what is the pose of the models? Most models are showing a respectable amount of skin, just depending on the clothing (legs in dresses and none in winter ads). Most models are in fun inviting poses or sultry sophisticated looking poses to show the status of the clothing.
Step 3: The discussion
I think her quote is somewhat true, fashion expresses how people are feeling which in turn shows how (a part of) the world is doing. Currently from this magazine we can tell people are taking bolder more unique risks in fashion as people are finding it harder to stand out. Styles are becoming a bit more darker as that is the way the media (tv, movies) are turning to capture more attention of the views. However, fashion captures only a small portion of the worlds view as only a small part of the population finds fashion to be of an importance. You'd never know about the economic crisis in Greece from reading Vogue.

My Favorite Outfit.
My favorite outfit is my tan rope wedges, my black floral skirt, and a yellow chiffon blouse. I usually wear this outfit with my favorite red sun hat. I bought this outfit for myself because each piece stood out to me. The wedges are from Aldo, the skirt is from urban behavior, the chiffon was from a modeling and shopping convention and the hat believe it or not was from the dollar store. I wear this outfit in the summer, it can be worn in the fall or spring with the right accessories like a cardigan and tights. I wore this outfit to my modeling class and I found it appropriate because modeling is about expressing yourself and standing out, which is exactly what this outfit does. I love this outfit because it expresses so much of myself. The bright colors, the bold but minimal accessories, and the mixing of colors and prints which allows me to show off my sense of risky fun fashion style. I feel like this is a good outfit for a teenager to wear but beyond my twenties I feel it would be a bit inappropriate to wear. I will probably keep all these pieces as I wear them frequently and cherish them.
Individual influencing factors:
My choice of dress is bright colors, bold patterns, and most of the time, both. My outfit reflects my knowledge of fashion because it has minimal pieces (2+2 accessories) yet makes a big statement because. I have intelligently put together two things that would not usually be together because I have a knowledge of color and a desire to take risks. This outfit helps me stand out because I have never seen someone (especially in this area) wear such a bold expression of clothing. The bright colors and fun florals show I am a bright and fun person. It is an interesting outfit which makes people think I would be interesting. My attitude towards fashion is that it is a personal expression of who you are and has to be unique and show off your individuality, which I feel I have achieve through this outfit.
Cultural influencing factors:
My cultural values are based on a modern canadian standard which is pretty much no butts, boobs, belly's or backs. I have followed this rule in my outfit. It does not represent any cultural traditions, because it is based on my personal values. My outfit was based on my style and not that of a movie or rock star.
