The classic clothing I have seen within my peer
group of seventeen to twenty four year olds is skinny jeans, moccasins, large
sweaters (Hoodie or chunky knit) and brand name shirts. Within the age group of
seventeen to twenty four year olds the two main fads I am seeing are high low
dresses and skirts and Toms, a type of boat shoe. The trends I am seeing
evolving within the seventeen to twenty four year old age group is a lot of
girly and vintage looks. Things like fitted silhouettes, pastel colors and
floral patterns are worn. On the opposite side of fashion the grunge look is
very popular with slouchy clothing, darker colors like burgundy and navy blue
and chunky accessories. Accessories are bold, and expressive, people are using
them to the fullest advantage to create unique yet simple looks. Combat boots,
cross body bags, statement jewellery and feather hair pieces are seen on the
streets. A whole array of color is now visible, from pastels to darks, with all
the bights in between. A predominant garment I am seeing is high waist shorts
and the silhouette of a thin but curvy girl. The classic clothing has been
popularized by certain bands and TV celebrities, the fads are from fashion
blogs on the internet. I believe the inspiration for the fashion trends has
come from the internet, the popular spread of the website Tumblr, and lots of
celebrities and models have begun to dress like this. The classics will probably
stay for another few years; having only few go on for perhaps a decade longer,
while the fads will probably die out within the next year or two. The next
things I would popularize are heeled combat boots, chunky knit scarves, draping
cardigans and lots of cool prints with pops of color.
